This collection consists of various materials of William H. Adams. Included in the collection are handwritten lyrics to the song "Satan's lullaby"; handwritten poems (ca. 1860); diaries for the years 1877-78, 1885, 1891, 1892, 1894-1900, 1902, 1905, 1906, 1907, 1912, 1913, 1914 and covering a variety of topics, such as farming, social and religious life and finances in Jackson County, Mich., and includes account of expenditures, inventories of assets for self, church, and school; account book bearing the name of John S. Boyce, Bristol, dating from Apr. 28, 1845-Nov. 9, 1859, and relating to the business of farming and shoe manufacture and repair; account books for 1839-1857, Feb. 5, 1855-Nov. 28, 1857, and 1884; general record books for the years 1883-85, 1886, 1887-89, 1877-ca.1889, 1892-95, and 1896 and offering mainly records of assessment for school tax, and includes road building, notes on church revivals, statements of township board of supervisors, vital statistics, building costs, rolls for equalization in 1888, and other local government expenses; a statment on the formation and convention of Tompkins Sunday School, 1896; inventory of farm and household goods, 1877-ca.1889; and inventory of Simon Dunn estate, 1886.
